Swim Teams Swept by Panthers

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - The Truman swim teams were swept by in-state rival Drury (Mo.) on Senior Day in the Pershing Natatorium, as the Panthers grabbed a 115-85 win on the women's side and a 127-70 win in the men's meet.
 
Adrian Rudd grabbed the first of three individual wins on the day for the 'Dogs, as she touched the wall in a time of 59.39 in the 100 Fly. Then, Abby Hempen (1:07.71) and Marguax Kent (1:08.97) posted a top-two finish in the 100 Breast in front of another back-to-back 1-2 finish by Tony Hernandez (59.85) and Lars Winkelmolen (1:01.90) in the men's 100 Breast.
 
The Bulldogs then added 16 points to the team side in both the 200 Free Relay events, as the team of Casey Jepsen, Rudd, Ashley Shanel and Bailey Peterson took top honors with a 1:42.27 time. The men's team of George Dowdy, Winkelmolen, Ben DeVilbiss and Seth Holbrook also captured a dozen team points with a time of 1:32.89 in the men's race.
 
Saturday's action marked the final duals of the 2012-13 season, with the next competition for both squads coming at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships, held Feb. 7-10 in Rochester, Minn. Updated A and B cut times will be posted on TrumanBulldogs.com prior to that event.
