SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - - A goal in the 3rd-minute by host Illinois Springfield marked the only time the nets swayed on Sunday afternoon, as UIS dealt the Truman men's soccer team a 1-0 setback at Kiwanis Field.

Mark Williams logged his fourth goal of the season just 2:29 into the match, heading in a corner kick to put UIS (7-10, 6-8 GLVC) ahead of Truman (7-7-3, 5-6-3 GLVC). The Bulldogs had nine shots overall, including one by Tony Luedecke that clanged off the post in the 77th minute, but the purple and white could not buy an equalizing goal to suffer its third straight loss.

Drew Garrone made five saves in goal for Truman, while Corey Nolte led all 'Dogs with two total shots.

The Bulldogs find themselves in a precarious spot entering the final match of the 2013 regular season, as Truman is tied with UW-Parkside for ninth in the GLVC standings. Both squads are a half-game back of Missouri S&T - who currently holds the No. 8 spot - entering Wednesday's final league date. Truman will host league-leading Quincy on Wednesday (Oct. 30) at 2:30 pm at the Bulldog Soccer Park, needing most likely a win to clinch a berth into the GLVC tournament that begins on Sunday (Nov. 3).
