MACOMB, Ill. - - The 8th-ranked Truman women's swimming team notched a key dual victory on Saturday afternoon, blasting NCAA Div. I Western Illinois 189-85 behind 12 first-place finishes. Meanwhile, the Bulldog men fell 214-77 to WIU.

Casey Jepsen was perfect on the afternoon to lead the Bulldog women, being part of two first-place relay squads (400 Medley Relay, 400 Free Relay) to go with two first-place individual swims in the 50 Free and the 200 Free. Abby Hempen (400 Medley Relay, 100 Breast, 500 Free) and Evyn Spencer (400 Medley Relay, 400 Free Relay, 200 Back) picked up three first-place finishes, while Ally Neumann picked up a pair of first-place touches (200 Breast, 400 IM).

Beth Eyanson (400 Medley Relay), Brynn Guardado (1000 Free), Emily Ponte (100 Free), Shannon Rempe (100 Fly), Alison Strickler (400 Free Relay), and Bailey Peterson (400 Free Relay) all picked up one first-place finish on the afternoon, as Truman dominated from start to finish against the Div. I squad.

Justin Marler swam two second-place races for the Bulldog men, finishing just out of first in both the 100 Back and the 200 Back.

Both Bulldog teams will now prepare for the TYR Cup - a three-day event hosted by Big Ten program Northwestern (Ill.). That event will take place in Evanston, Ill., from Nov. 22-24.
