QUINCY, Ill. - - Junior guard Seth Jackson scored 20 of his season-high 23 points in the second half, and senior forward Mike Carlson added 20 points and nine rebounds of his own to help the Truman men's basketball team close the 2013 calendar year with a 93-81 win against Central (Ohio) State on Sunday afternoon.

Truman's biggest second-half outburst in the Matt Woodley era came after the Bulldogs (8-1) trailed CSU (7-5) by five, 42-37, at the intermission. Fueled by Jackson's 7-for-8 second half shooting and a 62% mark as a team, the Bulldogs poured in 56 points in the final 20 minutes to race past the Marauders and win by a dozen.

The Bulldogs shot a blazing 55% for the game, including an 11-of-23 (48%) mark from behind the three-point line. Truman's second half shooting from the floor was complemented by a 20-for-23 effort from the free throw line that led to a 24-for-29 (83%) mark for the game.

Jackson's 23 points led all Bulldogs, with the junior leading five Truman players in double-figures offensively. Carlson notched his fifth 20-point game of the season, meeting his season average with a 20-point, nine-rebound and four-steal game, while Andrew Vander Zwaag knocked down 12 points to go alongside four assists off the bench. Starting guards Reed Mells (11 points) and Kyle Kanaskie (10 points) also finished in double-figures, with the tandem combining for five assists and just one turnover.

The Bulldogs are now idle until resuming Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Friday, January 3, at Lewis (Ill.). Tipoff against the Flyers as part of a two-game weekend road trip that also includes a stop at UW-Parkside on Sunday, January 5 is set for 7:30 p.m. following the women's tipoff at 5:30 p.m.
