QUINCY, Ill. - - The No. 23 Truman volleyball team won its 20th consecutive match and remained unblemished in Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Tuesday night, as the Bulldogs traveled to Quincy and picked up a 3-1 win at Pepsi Arena.

The Bulldogs (22-2, 14-0 GLVC) hit .237 for the match and got 13 kills and seven blocks from junior Ali Patterson to earn a season two-match sweep of QU (8-17, 3-11 GLVC). Truman's outside hitters each added double-doubles, as sophomore Kayla Bastian added 17 kills and 15 digs next to senior Allie Brak's 12 kills and 13 digs.

The first two sets opened with a similar story, as Quincy jumped all over Truman and bolted out to 19-13 leads each time. In the first frame, the Bulldogs rallied late and eventually took the lead at 24-23 on a Bastian kill. After QU knotted the score at 24-all, Truman went back to back with kills by Bastian and Meghan Zimmerman to jump on top, 26-24.

The second set, however, did not follow a similar plot line, as QU's 19-13 lead would be enough for the hosts to side-out and hold on for a 25-19 decision that sent the teams to the intermission even at one apiece.

Out of the break, the teams played to a 7-7 tie in the third set, before Truman scored 10 of the next 12 points to open up a 17-9 lead. QU would stay within eight all the way to 21-13, before kills by Patterson and Abby Heise bookended two Hawk attack errors for a 25-13 decision.

Finally, the Bulldogs would never trail in the fourth set, as the guests built a 12-4 lead and never allowed Quincy to crawl within four on the way to a 25-14 clinching victory.

"We came out a little flat tonight, and Quincy took advantage early," head coach Ben Briney said. "They are a very aggressive serving team and put up a big block. Our team did a great job of coming back out after the second set and picking up the intensity to put more pressure on QU from the service line."

Truman totaled 10 blocks in the match, with Patterson's seven leading the charge. Heise added four blocks alongside eight kills, and junior Emilee Walters chipped in two blocks and four kills. Five Bulldogs finished in double-figures defensively, led by senior Abby Moser's 21. Zimmerman posted a double-double of her own with 42 assists and 15 digs.

The Bulldogs now return home for the final four matches of the 2014 regular season, with two matches this weekend beginning on Saturday at 5 p.m. against Saint Joseph's (Ind.). The team will be signing posters after the match as part of Autograph Night.
