KIRKSVILLE – The Truman volleyball offense could never fully get on track on Sunday afternoon, as the University of Indianapolis handed the Bulldogs their first conference loss of the season in a 3-0 decision at Pershing Arena.

The Bulldogs (23-3, 15-1 GLVC) hit just .145 for the match, and topped the .200 mark in a set only once. Despite the offensive struggles, however, Truman battled UIndy down the wire in all three sets, as the visiting Greyhounds (16-9, 13-3 GLVC) used late set runs and outlasted the purple and white in a marathon third frame to pick up the win.

The opening set featured 13 ties and nine lead changes between the squads, as the teams played to 20-20. Truman would jump ahead by one, but UIndy responded with four in a row to lead, 24-21. Truman got two back, but a kill by Becca Lira gave UIndy the early break.

In the second set, the Bulldogs fell behind 14-11, but a quick 6-2 burst put Truman on top, 17-16. The lead would eventually be 23-21, but once again, the Greyhounds rose up late – stealing the final four points to take a second straight 25-23 decision.

Finally, in the third, the squads battled to 13 ties and three lead changes, as neither team led by more than five in the frame (14-9 Truman). With Truman on top 20-16, UIndy scored four straight to again knot the match at 20-all. From there, the side-outs began, as UIndy fought off nine Bulldog set points all the way to 33-33. But after a Bulldog attack error, UIndy's Lira put home the final point for a 35-33 third set victory.

Truman recorded 42 kills for the match, and was led by Allie Brak's 11-kill, 14-dig double-double. Kayla Bastian added 10 kills and 10 digs, while Ali Patterson finished with eight kills, three aces, and a block assist. Meghan Zimmerman added a 35-assist, 10-dig double-double, while Abby Moser tied for the match-high with 25 digs in just three sets.

The teams combined for 173 digs, with UIndy hitting .175 as a team to Truman's .145. The Greyhounds served nine errors and matched the Bulldogs with eight blocks overall.

Truman returns to action next Friday (Nov. 7) at 7 p.m., hosting Maryville in Pershing Arena.
