KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Baseball team claimed their first GLVC series win by splitting the second day twinbill with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Monday. The Rangers rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh to pull out a 5-3 win in the opener while Truman's Will Nader had three hits in a 6-1 victory in game two. The Bulldogs travel to the University of Indianapolis this weekend.

Paul Trenhaile and Jarod Hahn led the offense with each hitting .500 during the four-game set and as a team, the Bulldogs pounded out 34 hits, six for extra bases for a .288 team batting average.

Truman was successful on the basepaths with nine steals in 12 attempts. Corbin Williams was a perfect 4-for-4.

The pitching staff posted a 1.97 ERA. Mark Roberts had a seven-inning complete-game shutout in game two and Tyler Spencer allowed just one earned run in six innings of work to pick up the win in Monday's finale.

Game 1 Recap: Chris Zrostlik picked up his first RBI of the season at the most opportune time as he drove in Paul Trenhaile in the bottom of the ninth as Truman defeated the Rangers 5-4. The Bulldogs led 4-1 after five innings only to watch the Rangers score one in the sixth and two more in the seventh to tie things up.

The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the first with Corban Williams singling and then stealing second with Trenhaile following with a walk and Jarod Hahn taking a hit-by-pitch. Blake Deaton earned the RBI the hard way by taking an inside pitch off the elbow pad for the 1-0 lead.

UWP tied things up in the second when Eric DuCharme led off with a double and advanced on a wild pitch and came in on a two-out single by Kris Zarek.

The first three hitters in the third led off with singles and Deaton drove in his second run with a fielders' choice. Mike Monfre singled on the first pitch for a second run but the 'Dogs again left them loaded, stranding seven in the first three innings.

Tim Lee pitched around DuCharme's second double in as many at bats in the fourth but allowed a lead-off home run by DJ Peltz to start the sixth. The Rangers left two on in the sixth after Lee got a piece of the ball going up the middle and Kyle Smith stepping on the bag at second to retire the side.

Alex Hoffman got the first two out in the seventh but then a walk and a pair of singles led to trouble. Patrick Cottrell singled to center to cut the lead to 4-3 then on a pitch in the dirt, Peltz broke from third and scored on a throw into left field by the Bulldog catcher. With Cottrell at third, Hoffman induced Derek Tuttle to ground out to short.

Cody Gardner erased a lead-off walk in the ninth by picking off Jake Kolasinski then after hitting Juan Bowers and watching him steal second, fanned DuCharme and Peltz to send the game tied to the bottom of the ninth.

Trenhaile reached on a fielding error by the shortstop and Hahn executed a perfect sac bunt to move him up to second. Zrostlik found the hole on the left side of the infield and Coach Dan Davis was aggressive with sending Trenhaile home for the winner.

Gardner picked up his first win in his team leading fifth appearance of the season. Joseph Plaud took the loss while only allowing the game winning hit in five innings of relief work.

Game 2 Recap: Corban Williams set up the first run with a walk and stolen base and Jarod Hahn hit a two-out single to right field to stake Mark Roberts to a 1-0 lead.

Roberts was efficient on the day, throwing just 78 pitches to pick up the complete game shutout. He allowed four hits, two coming in the second and none after the fourth inning.

Roberts had an economical seven-pitch inning in the sixth that inspired the Bulldog offense to explode in the bottom of the inning. Trenhaile and Hahn were aboard when Zrostlik blasted a 2-2 pitch over the right field fence for a 4-0 lead. Will Nader grounded out by scored Deaton from third base later in the inning and Trenhaile doubled off the fence in left to bring in two more runs.

Game 3 Recap: After a day between doubleheaders due to weather, the Rangers jumped out on top as Juan Bowers went opposite field and doubled in Zach Cunningham in the top of the first inning. UWP tacked on a second run in the third following a leadoff double by Ryan Ruediger and a swinging bunt by Cunningham brought Ruediger in from third.

Mario Samuel zipped through the Bulldog order the first time around without allowing a hit but things were different in the fourth. Zak Larkin singled and Corban Williams was hit by a pitch to bring up Trenhaile. The Bulldog junior delivered with an RBI single to center and later Blake Deaton lifted a sac fly to tie the game at two apiece.

Trenhaile singled to start the sixth and Jarod Hahn reached while trying to sacrifice on two errors by the Rangers' pitcher. Deaton pushed across the go-ahead run with a single to left however Truman left the bases loaded with just one out as Kyle Smith and Will Nader both struck out swinging.

The momentum carried over to the top of the seventh. Cody Gardner replaced Sam Reuter on the mound for Truman. Reuter had thrown six innings, allowing two runs on just three hits and had thrown 66 pitches.

Gardner was greeted with a single by Derek Tuttle and D.J. Peltz reached on a fielding error by Larkin at third. Following a sac bunt and walk, Cunningham had the game-winning hit with a single down the left field line to plate two runs. The Rangers added an insurance run on an errarnt throw following an attempt of a steal of third by Kris Zarek.

Samuel picked up the win as the lefty struck out seven and allowed five hits in seven innings.

Game 4 Recap: The Bulldogs dodged a few early bullets before the offense clicked into gear to take the series finale 6-1. The Rangers had eight of their 10 hits in the first four innings but managed a single run off hurler Tyler Spencer.

The Bulldogs struck first in the third after Jarod Hahn doubled to right center bringing in Paul Trenhaile and later scored on a single through the right side from Blake Deaton.

Derek Tuttle led off the fourth with a double of his own and would score on a single to right by Shaun Lena.

Truman got the run back in the bottom of the inning. Will Nader had one of his three hits, advanced to second on a passed ball and to third on a single by Zak Larkin. Nader came in on a groundout by Corban Williams.
Nader sparked the offense again in the sixth with a one-out single to right and promptly stole second. Larkin drew a walk and T.J. Wood got a pinch hit RBI single. Trenahaile drove in another with a sac fly to left and a passed ball brought Wood home for the 6-1 lead.
