LEBANON, Ill. - - John Lee found himself in the right place at the right time and took full advantage, putting in his first career goal in the third minute of overtime to send the Truman men's soccer team to a 1-0 road victory at McKendree (Ill.) on Friday night.

After the Bulldogs (3-0-1, 2-0-1 GLVC) spent the final 11-plus minutes of regulation swarming the Bearcat (1-3-1, 1-2 GLVC) net, head coach Duke Cochran's squad was finally rewarded a little more than two minutes into the extra session. Lee put home an unassisted tally to give the purple and white three big road points and keep the squad unbeaten on the year.

"Our guys worked incredibly hard tonight, and team defense translated to three points on the road," Cochran said. "It was an overall great team effort."

Truman out-shot McKendree 18-12 overall, which included a 12-6 edge in the second half and overtime combined. Goalkeeper Drew Garrone made two saves in net to earn his fourth straight shutout to start the 2014 season.

Nick Franta took five shots, and Tony Luedecke added four for the Bulldogs.

Truman finishes the weekend road trip with a stop in Louisville, Ky., on Sunday afternoon for a 1:30 p.m. (CT) kickoff at Bellarmine (Ky.). The Knights fell 1-0 at home to Quincy on Friday night to drop to 2-3-1 overall (0-2-1 GLVC) on the season.
