Men's Soccer Recap: Missouri S&T 2, Truman 1

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - In a match the Truman men's soccer statistically dominated, the final score line looked the other way as visiting Missouri S&T earned a 2-1 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Bulldog Soccer Park.
 
The Bulldogs (3-3-1, 2-3-1 GLVC) suffered their third straight league loss, despite out-shooting the visiting Miners (3-4-1, 2-3-1 GLVC) 15-7 overall and taking nine corner kicks to S&T's one. However, Truman put just four of its 15 total shots on frame, while S&T made the most of its two shots on goal – scoring both – to earn the three league points.
 
S&T got on the board with less than eight minutes before the intermission when Martin Klevjer finished off an unassisted goal that deflected off a Bulldog defender. Then, in the 68th minute, Maxi Fuchs finished a ball from teammate Eduardo Abichabki to put S&T up, 2-0.
 
Truman would put pressure on the visitors, however, as Corey Nolte sent home his third goal of the season from the penalty dot in the 74th minute to cut into the Miners' lead.
 
The Bulldogs would get four more shots off in the final 15 minutes, but none went on target to allow S&T to pick up the road victory.
 
Tony Luedecke's four shots led all Bulldogs in that offensive category, with Austin Hayden and Chris Mansfield adding two apiece.
 
The Bulldogs will take Monday off before returning to action on Tuesday in St. Charles, Mo., at Lindenwood for a non-conference match. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
