Men's Soccer Recap: Lindenwood 3, Truman 2

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - - For the second time in three days, the Truman men's soccer team out-played its opposition on paper, but once again, the Bulldogs ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard as Lindenwood picked up a 3-2 home win on Tuesday night.

Truman (3-4-1) out-shot LWU 11-6 and took four corner kicks without allowing one; however, the host Lions (4-3-2) came through with goals on three of their six total shots on target to hand the Bulldogs their fourth straight loss.

The Lions carried a 2-0 lead into the break, getting a 20th minute goal from Nabil El Machit and a 36th minute tally from Mitchell Hunt. Truman recovered with a goal at the top of the 59th minute, when Nick Franta swiped a ball meant to be cleared and went in for his first goal of the season.

Lindenwood would score in the 65th minute off a tally by Jose Del Val, before Corey Nolte put home his fourth penalty kick goal of the year in the 77th minute. Austin Hayden had a shot saved just moments later, and a John Lee attempt in the 84th minute went wide, as the Bulldogs couldn't complete the comeback.

Drew Garrone made three saves in net for Truman, and Tony Luedecke led all Bulldogs with three shots taken.

The Bulldogs travel to the opposite side of the state this weekend for two matches, beginning on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. against William Jewell.
