Swimming Recap: Bulldogs Face Div. I Kansas, William Jewell on Saturday

Final Results

LIBERTY, Mo. - - The Truman men rode 10 combined first-place finishes to a 143-119 road dual victory at William Jewell, while the Bulldog women earned a split – defeating WJC 181-81 and falling to Div. I Kansas 164-90 – at the WJC Mabee Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldog men brought home first place finishes in 10 of the 14 contested events, with Neil Girmus, Riley Brown, Will Shanel, and Tim Senholtz each earning two individual victories, while Etienne Thro added one more. Four of those five – Girmus, Shanel, Senholtz, and Thro – were also involved in the Bulldogs' first-place 400 Free Relay squad that touched the 25-meter pool wall in a time of 3:33.31 to edge off the Jewell squad.

Meanwhile, the Truman women grabbed two first-place finishes in the meet, with Evyn Spencer logging a top time in the 100 Fly. She then joined Grace Fodor, Jamie Fitzpatrick, and Alison Strickler as part of Truman's first-place 400 Free Relay squad. Abby Hempen notched three second-place finishes and a third-place time, while Strickler linked with Fodor, Hempen, and Spencer on a second-place 200 Medley Relay team before adding a third second-place touch and a third-place finish in the 100 Free.

The regular season now complete, Truman continues to the 2015 Great Lakes Valley Championships on Feb. 11-14 in Crawfordsville, Ind., looking to secure faster times in advance of the 2015 Div. II Swimming Championships in mid-March.
