Men's Soccer Falls in 2-1 Match at S&T

ROLLA, Mo. - - Two early goals put the Truman men's soccer team in too deep of a hole to recover from on Friday night, as Missouri S&T rode a pair of first-half tallies to a 2-1 scoreline on the turf at S&T's Allgood-Bailey Stadium.

Match Breakdown:

  • Eduardo Abichabki scored an unassisted goal after intercepting a Bulldog pass from 25 yards out in the 16th minute. Then, just into the 19th minute, the Miners made it 2-0 on a goal by Martin Klevjer off a Ryan Lawhead cross.
  • Truman frantically pushed the tempo in the second half, out-shooting the Miners 7-2 in the final 45 minutes, finally to be rewarded in the 84th minute when Brian Kane took a mis-cleared ball and rocketed it into the corner of the net to cut the S&T lead to 2-1.
  • The Bulldogs had two more good chances late, getting a corner kick and a follow-up shot pushed wide in the 89th minute, before a final attempt with four seconds to play also went just wide.
  • Eight players combined to take Truman's nine total shots, with freshman Joel Reft earning credit for two. Freshman Jory Knernschield made one save in goal on the Miners' three total shots on target.
