Two Late Goals Set Back Men's Soccer

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - - The Truman men's soccer team fell victim to two late goals by Drury on Sunday afternoon, as the Bulldogs dropped a 2-0 decision to the host Panthers at Harrison Stadium.

Match Breakdown:
  • The Bulldogs and Panthers played a defensively-minded first half, as only three total shots (two for Drury; one for Truman) were taken. Truman took three corner kicks to none for the Panthers.
  • Action picked up in the second half, as DU took seven shots to Truman's three, as two shots went wide for the purple and white with one other attempt blocked.
  • DU opened the scoring with 12:59 to play, when Matt Clarkin followed up a rebound off a Charles Guelly miss to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
  • Then, with 1:55 left on the clock, Drury got the insurance tally it was looking for, when Julien Chevy scored his second of the season off an assist by Mitchell Waters.
  • Tyler Luebbert, Josh Hall, Joel Reft, and Brendan Kissel each took one shot for Truman, while Jory Knernschield made two saves in net.
 
Extra Notes:
  • The Bulldogs are now 6-8-2 all-time against DU, with the Panthers having gone 3-0 since Truman joined the GLVC in 2013.
  • Truman is now in a three-way tie for seventh-place at .500 in the league standings, tied with both Missouri-St. Louis and Wisconsin-Parkside.
  • Head coach Duke Cochran remained at 99 career wins and is Truman's all-time winningest coach.
