AURORA, Ill. - - The Truman volleyball team faced its second five-set match of the 2015 Midwest Regional Crossover on Saturday; however, this time the Bulldogs couldn't pull away in the fifth set en route to a 3-2 loss against Hillsdale (Mich.) in the tournament finale.

Kayla Bastian hit .318 with 18 kills, four service aces, and a career-high 24 digs, and Emilee Walters tied her previous career-best with eight blocks (two solo, six assisted) for Truman, who moved to 13-7 overall on the season after posting a 2-1 weekend mark. The Bulldogs defeated both Tiffin (Ohio) and Ashland (Ohio) on Friday before coming up just short against the Chargers of HC on Saturday.

The Bulldogs and Chargers squared off in five incredibly tight sets in the two-hour, five-minute match, with a combined 36 ties and 15 lead changes. Truman took the opening set 27-25 and the second set 25-22 before HC began to claw back. The Chargers won the third set late 27-25 and won the fourth 25-21 to force a fifth set, where HC held off the Bulldog attack just long enough for a 15-10 win.

In addition to Bastian's 22.5 total points, Ali Patterson hit .476 with 10 kills, seven blocks (three solo, four assist), and an ace. Abby Heise finished with 25 assists and eight digs, while Kayleen Green added a double-double of 15 assists and 11 digs. Sadie Pafford capped her weekend with 17 digs, and Bailey Mason closed the match with nine kills and three service aces.

The Bulldogs return to action next Friday (Oct. 23) by visiting Missouri S&T in Rolla at 7 p.m.
