No. 4 Women, No. 16 Men Swimming Teams Pick Up Dual Sweeps

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- The No. 4 Truman women's swimming team and the No. 16 Bulldog men's swimming team combined for 16 first-place finishes on Saturday, as the women dispatched both Lindenwood-Belleville and Quincy with ease, while the men edged Lindenwood-Belleville by a three-point margin to earn their first dual win of the 2015-16 season in the Pershing Natatorium.

The Bulldog women, ranked fourth in last week's CollegeSwimming.com poll, dropped LWB by a 142-89 score and QU by a 141-72 margin, with the No. 16-ranked men picking up a 132-129 victory against the Lynx of Lindenwood-Belleville. The teams linked up for clean sweeps in the 400 Medley Relay, 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 1000 Free, and 100 Breast events for 12 of the 16 first-place finishes, with additional victories coming in the women's 200 Fly and 400 Free Relay along with the men's 100 Back and 200 Breast events.

On the women's side, sophomore Jasmine Roghair (100 Free, 200 Free, 400 Free Relay) was a three-time first-place finisher, while three others - junior Ally Neumann (400 Medley Relay, 200 Fly), sophomore Nikki Sisson (400 Medley Relay, 400 Free Relay), and sophomore Kortney Betz (1000 Free, 400 Free Relay) were part of two first-place finishing times. Junior Evyn Spencer (100 Breast) and sophomore Libby Opfer (50 Free) also picked up a first-place finish in an individual event.

Meanwhile, the Bulldog men garnered seven first-place individual finishes and a first-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay to hold off LWB by three points. Freshman Caleb Kruse (400 Medley Relay, 100 Back), junior Neil Girmus (400 Medley Relay, 100 Breast), and senior Alec Morgan (400 Medley Relay, 200 Free) were twice first-place finishers. Other headliners included a 1-2-3 finish for the Bulldogs in the 1000 Free with sophomore Joel Schawe leading the way, along with first-place touches by senior George Dowdy (50 Free), freshman Sam Heveroh (100 Free), and sophomore Andrew Smith (200 Breast).

Both teams will return to action next Saturday for a dual at fellow GLVC-rival Lewis (Ill.), beginning at 12 p.m. in Romeoville, Ill.
