KIRKSVILLE - - The winning streak reached four for the Truman men's soccer team on Sunday afternoon, as book-ended goals gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 home victory against William Jewell.

Match Breakdown:

For the second straight match, the Truman men made things happen early – this time in just the second minute, as Brian Kane's corner kick was headed inside the post by Joel Reft for an early 1-0 lead. It was Reft's first career goal.
Later in the half, William Jewell struck even when Kit Russell found himself on the outside of a tightly-packed group in the box with the ball at his feet. He deposited a shot past the outstretched arms of Truman keeper Jory Knernschield, evening the score at 1-1.
The second half was dominated by Truman, and the Bulldogs were paid off in the 78^th minute, when Nicholas Klemm made a run with the ball down the right side. He slipped a pass to Josh Hall, who in turn found Matt McMillin coming up as a reinforcement. McMillin took a pass and scored to bottom right from the center of the box for his first of the year and second of his career.
William Jewell couldn't find the equalizer, as Truman moved to two games above .500 in GLVC play.
The Bulldogs out-shot WJC 17-8 overall (10-4 on goal), while also taking six corner kicks to Jewell's three. Reft and McMillin finished with a team-best three shots apiece, while Knernschield made three saves in his 90 minutes in net.

Extra Notes:

This marked the first four-match winning streak by the Bulldogs since 2010, when that year's squad ran a five-game win streak together from Sept. 24 – Oct. 17, 2010.
Truman continued its streak of scoring and winning, as the 'Dogs are now 6-0 this season when they get on the scoreboard. They are 0-5 when they are shutout.
Sunday's match closed a stretch of five matches in 10 days – during that time, Truman went 4-1 with an overtime loss. The Bulldogs out-scored their opponents 10-5.
The Bulldogs are now part of a five-way tie for third-place in the GLVC, joining Bellarmine (5-3), Indianapolis (4-2-2), Drury (4-2-2) and Missouri S&T (5-3) all with a .625 winning percentage in league play.
Truman is now 3-2 against the Cardinals all-time, including a now 3-0 record in three seasons as GLVC members.
Head coach Duke Cochran is now at 99 career victories, needing just one more to become the first Truman men's soccer coach to reach 100.

A tough four-game, two-weekend road trip starts this Friday night in a battle of Rt. 63 teams, as the Bulldogs visit Missouri S&T (5-5, 5-3 GLVC) at 7:30 p.m. in Rolla.
