Volleyball falls in three to Parkside

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - Freshman Bailey Mason (FORSYTH, Ill. // Maroa-Forsyth HS) led all Bulldogs with 10 kills, but the Truman volleyball team lost a pair of tight sets early en route to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday night in Pershing Arena.
 
The first two sets hung in the balance until the very end, as the teams had nine ties in each of the first two frames and a combined nine lead changes; however, the Rangers (18-8, 9-5 GLVC) picked up 25-23 and 25-22 decisions to go into the break leading 2-0.
 
The third set was all Parkside, as UWP built a large gap mid-set and held off any Bulldog rally for a 25-17 decision.
 
Mason finished with 10 kills on 29 swings, while three other Bulldogs finished with four kills apiece. Senior Abby Heise (JACKSONVILLE, Ill. // Springfield Lutheran HS) logged a team-best 16 assists, and junior Kayla Bastian (KEWASKUM, Wis. // Kewaskum HS) led three players in double-figure digs with 13.
 
Truman hit .064 on the night, while UWP connected at a .192 rate.
 
The Bulldogs, now 14-12 overall (7-7 GLVC), will host No. 18 Lewis on Saturday (Nov. 7) evening in Pershing Arena. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
