Outdoor Track Kicks Things Off In St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – The Truman Outdoor Track & Field season got underway in earnest as the Bulldogs competed in a meet at Lindenwood (Mo.) University and at Washington (Mo.) University this weekend.

On Friday night, Laura Tarantino ran a personal-best and NCAA provisional time in the 10,000 meter run at 36:20.23. That time was good for sixth place among the women runners in the combine male and female event.

Saturday, things shifted to St. Charles and the Lindenwood campus for a quadrangular meet with the host Lions, Lincoln (Mo.) University and Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.).

Truman had five individual event winners in the meet. Bryce Pavey won the 1,500 meter run in 4:04.28, Dominic Kacich won the 400 in 48.34, Andrew Tuisl won the 800 in 2:00.45, Sam Stewart took the Javelin in 152-00 and Emma Trenhaile won the Steeplechase in 11:33.59.

In the final event of the meet, the men's 4x400 relay team earned a victory by photo finish. Trevor Gonzales, Kacich, Nick Terreri and Zach Thomas finished in 3:21.49 to Lincoln's time of 3:21.50.

The teams return to action next Friday for the Central Methodist (Mo.) University Invite in Fayette.
