Match Breakdown:
  • The Bulldogs found themselves down right out of the gate, trailing by scores of 5-0 and 8-2 in the opening set before mounting their comeback to take the opening frame 26-24. With the score at 24-all, Truman got a kill from senior Abby Heise followed by a kill off the hands of freshman Bailey Mason to earn the 1-0 lead.
  • The second set was nearly a complete reversal from the first at the outset, as it was Truman who took a quick 5-1 lead. Although BU would get to within one early and within three at 14-11, the Bulldogs hit the gas behind the serving of Bastian to build a 21-11 lead. The Knights made a set of it, getting within three at 23-20 and 24-21, but a Bailey O'Drobinak kill put Truman on top, 2-0.
  • The teams played to a 6-6 draw early in the third, but BU went on a 10-3 run to pull away and eventually pick up a 25-18 decision that forced a fourth set.
  • In the fourth, the teams got out to a similar start at 5-all, but this time, Truman took the reins and built a 13-8 lead that forced a Knight timeout. The lead would never get closer than three the rest of the way, as Truman ran away with a 25-15 decision.
  • The Bulldogs hit .236 on the night, as Patterson (11-0-21), Heise (7-0-19), and Emilee Walters (5-2-10) each hit better than .300.
  • Mason came off the bench to total a career-best eight kills and nine points, while junior Kayleen Green finished with 36 assists and eight digs. Freshman Claire Wandrey closed her night on the back line with 16 digs.
  • Truman out-blocked BU 8-2 and sided-out at a 55% clip.
