Six First Place Finishes Highlight Home Finale for Swimming

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - The Truman swimming teams celebrated their final home duals of the 2015-16 season on Saturday afternoon, with both teams battling NCAA Div. I Missouri State in the General John J. Pershing Natatorium.

The Bulldog women, ranked No. 11 in the NCAA Div. II CSCAA Coaches' Poll, fell 148-114 to the Div. I Bears, while the Bulldog men dropped a 198-64 decision to MSU.

Truman came through with a combined six first-place finishes in the men's and women's duals, led by Grace Fodor's first-place touches in both the 100 Back (1:00.16) and 200 Back (2:07.55). Hannah Nicks made it a 1-2 finish in the 100 Back, finishing second with a mark of 1:00.67. Nikki Sisson notched a first-place finish in the 100 Free (52.83), while Evyn Spencer collected a first-place touch in the 100 Fly with a time of 57.56.

The Bulldog women also posted a first- and second-place set of finishes in the 500 Free, as Kortney Betz (5:15.70) and Jasmine Roghair (5:17.69) paced the field.

Neil Girmus logged the Bulldog men's one first-place finish on the day, as he captured the 50 Free race with a time of 21.70.

Both squads will return to action next weekend with the final two duals of the 2015-16 season before the postseason begins in mid-February. Truman will visit the St. Louis-area to face NCAA Div. I Saint Louis on Friday night at 5 p.m. before battling NCAA Div. III Washington-St. Louis at 12 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
