ST. LOUIS - Could redshirt senior,
Tyler Luebbert (pictured), have chosen better times to score his first two goals of the season, his final as a Bulldog? Doubt it. Friday, Luebbert's goal in the 74th minute against No. 18 UMSL ended up being the game-winner and Sunday, he scored with 46 seconds left in regulation to tie the match up at 2-2 with Maryville.
That was the score of Sunday's match after the final buzzer, so the Bulldogs overall record is now 6-6-4, including a 4-6-3 mark in the GLVC. The Saints sit at 9-7-1 on the year and 6-7-1 in league action.
Truman struck first with a goal in the 33rd minute off the header from freshman,
Matt Yankowitz, his fourth of the season. That number is tied for the team lead with
Craig McLaurine. The assist was provided by
Blake LaTendresse, his first, on a pass from the right side of the box.
The home team scored in both the 50th and 52nd minutes to retake the lead, but the Bulldogs weren't going to let this one get away. Nearly 40 minutes of playing time later, T. Luebbert did his thing thanks to a header off the corner kick from guess who? McLaurine, who maintains his stranglehold on the team lead in helpers with five.
For the team statistics, the two squads were tied in shots (7-7), shots on goal (5-5) and saves (3-3), but Truman had the advantage in corner kicks (7-2). In goal,
Zac Suazo faced seven shots and tallied three saves.
Next up is the final match of the regular season for the Bulldogs as they travel to Quincy on Wednesday with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
