ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Truman men's and women's swimming teams competed in Lindenwood's Quad Meet on Saturday against the likes of Lindenwood, Delta State and Indianapolis, plus Missouri S&T on the guys' side. The event presented quite the challenge as every team represented was among the top 12 in the country.
The men dropped their four head-to-head matchups vs. the Lions (176-47), the Statesmen (159-77), the Greyhounds (184-50), and the Miners (154-51). Meanwhile the females beat UIndy (127-102), but came up short against both Lindenwood (147-90) and Delta State (154-80).
Individually,
Evyn Spencer won two events including the 100 fly (57.32) and the 100 back (57.92). The 200 free relay team of
Alison Strickler,
Jamie Fitzpatrick,
Hannah Nicks, and
Nikki Sisson came in first with a time of 1:39.05. N. Sisson was also fifth in the 200 free (1:55.93),
Maggie Hickey was third in the 100 fly (58.78) and
Kortney Betz placed fourth in the 400 IM (4:40.79).
For the men,
Justin King took 10th in the 400 IM (4:14.18),
Austin Mayer was ninth in the 500 free (4:51.89) and defending GLVC Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week,
Sam Heveroh, placed third in the 200 free (1:42.55).
Next up, both teams will host Lindenwood-Belleville on Saturday, Nov. 5 with the start time set for 1 p.m. inside Pershing Natatorium.
