KIRKSVILLE, Mo.  – The Truman Bulldog Baseball team used a big sixth inning to win game one 10-4 but the William Jewell Cardinals spoiled Senior Day with a 4-1 victory in the nightcap to take three of four in their GLVC West Division series.

Charlie Kreh and Dave Gambino each had three hits on the afternoon for Truman but it was Garret McKinzie's two-run homer in the top of the eighth that lifted the Cardinals to the win in the second game. McKinzie opened the scoring in the series with a solo home run in game one then added the punctuation mark with his third home run over the weekend in game four.

Game 1 Recap:
A six-run sixth inning broke a four-all tie to give Truman the game one win 10-4. The teams endured about an hour delay due to rain.

The Cardinals jumped on top when Mike Leeper hit his first home run of the season as it cleared the left centerfield fence in the second for a 2-0 lead.

The Bulldogs struck back in the third. Mason King hit an infield single and Nick Agliolo following with a hit to right. Dave Gambino crushed his pitch over the right field wall for his fourth homer of the season to put Truman on top 3-2.

An infield single and a well-placed bunt single put two on for the Cardinals in the fifth. Andrew Miller knocked in the tying run with a hit to right center and Coleman Waheed scored on a fielder's choice to put Jewell up 4-3.

Agliolo tied the game in Truman's fifth with an RBI double to right center that scored T.J. Wood from second. Wood was able to head first slide and touch the plate on the close play.

Peter Young took over in the sixth and worked around a one-out double down the left field line by Tanner Foerschler.

Adam Gregorich reached on a fielding error at second to start Truman's sixth. Charlie Kreh singled through the right side to move Gregorich over to third. The Cardinals brought in their closer Chris Mancha and Jason Priest greeted him with a drive off the fence in left to score Gregroich to break the tie.

Wyatt Fones singled to left to score two more runs. Wood followed with a cue shot past the third base bag for a double. Later, Brendan Trimble doubled to right center to score two more runs.

Young pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to record the victory.

Game 2 Recap:
Billy Kirkpatrick tossed a complete-game six-hitter and Garrett McKinzie's two-out two-run homer in the eighth lifted the Cardinals to a 4-1 victory in the nightcap.

Kirkpatrick fanned five and walked one as he allowed six hits for his fifth win of the season. The lone run allowed was an unearned run in the fourth that tied the game at one apiece.

The Cardinals struck first when a leadoff walk came in on a groundout by Drew Standifer.

Truman got their run in the fourth went Trevor Bell hit an infield single and went to second on a wild throw. He would score on a hit to center by Charlie Kreh.

Kirkpatrick and Truman starter Mark Roberts were moving along until the eight. A two-out walk issued by Roberts to Standifer was magnified when McKinzie belted a pitch over the wall in left for the lead.

Dylan Christie added an insurance run with a homer in the ninth.

The Bulldogs got their leadoff hitter on in the ninth and brought the tying run to the plate after Bell drew a two-out walk. However, pinch hitter Michael Judson struck out swinging to end the game.
