RECAP: Late Push Not Enough as Bulldogs Fall to Tritons

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Truman State University men's soccer team scored in the 84th minute on Sunday to pull within one, 2-1, of Missouri-St. Louis. However, the Tritons kept the score right there to avenge their loss that happened during last season's Senior Day at Bulldog Soccer Park.

Truman's (2-9, 1-7 GLVC) lone score came off the head of Matt Yankowitz, his second of the year, and he was assisted by Austin Morgan's (pictured) first helper of 2017. For Missouri-St. Louis (4-4-2, 4-3-1), its two goals were courtesy of Kenan Selimovic in the sixth minute and Pat Ries in the 63rd.

In goal for the Bulldogs, all three goalkeepers saw time including Zac Suazo (11:07), Jacob Gunn in his Truman debut (64:12) and Jory Knernschield to finish it (14:41). Suazo faced one shot, Gunn saw seven with two saves and Knernschield was challenged with no attempts.

Offensively for the Purple and White, their 16 shots came from 11 different players while Joel Reft and Jeff Masters were the leaders with three apiece. As far as shots on goal, Masters tallied two and four other Bulldogs registered one each.

In the team head-to-head, Truman dominated in both shots (16-8) and corner kicks (8-1) while holding a slim advantage in shots on target (6-4).

Next up, the Bulldogs will travel to McKendree on Friday with the start time set for 7:30 p.m. from Lebanon, Ill.
