EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Through the first 81 minutes and 34 seconds on Sunday, the Truman State University men's soccer team and homestanding Southern Indiana had played to a scoreless draw. However, the Screaming Eagles broke through first with a goal right there and that's where the score stood when the final buzzer sounded.
Truman fell to 3-10 overall and 2-8 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play while Southern Indiana improved to 6-5 on the season, including 4-5 in league action. The Screaming Eagles' score came off the foot of Eric Ramirez and he was assisted by Cesar Alba on the through ball.
In goal for the Bulldogs,
Jory Knernschield started for the second time in as many matches and was nearly perfect with four saves on a total of seven shots faced, none of which came in the first half. Offensively, the Purple and White's nine shots came from six different players and the leader was
Trevor Kaufmann with three. For shots on goal, Kaufmann had one and so did
Jake Koenig off the bench.
Next up, Truman will host Bellarmine on Homecoming Friday with the start time set for 12 p.m. at Bulldog Soccer Park.
