RECAP: Quincy Sweeps Weekend Series Over Bulldog Baseball

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy Hawks got the weekend sweep over the Truman Baseball by taking both ends of Sunday's series concluding doubleheader. The Hawks took game one 6-2 and game two 17-7.

Jason Priest went 5-for-7 on the afternoon with a pair of home runs and five RBIs. Brendan Trimble added a home run, a two-run shot, in the ninth inning of game two.

Quincy had five round trippers on the day and as a team hit .425 adding six doubles and a triple in the sweep.

Priest put Truman up 1-0 in game one with an RBI single in the top of the first inning. Quincy countered with an RBI in their half of the first then scored three times in the third. Priest hit a solo shot in the fourth to cut the lead in half but QU added a pair of insurance runs, all coming with two outs in the fifth to win the
seven inning game 6-2.

Priest blasted a three-run shot to stake the Bulldogs to a 3-0 lead in game two. Quincy got single runs in both the first and second inning then broke things open with a four-run fourth.

Quincy threw salt on the wound in the sixth by sending 12 hitters to the plate and coming away with eight runs, four of which on a grand slam by J.C. DeMuri.

Truman got four runs, two in each of the eighth and ninth inning to round out their scoring on the afternoon.

The Bulldogs will be on the road again next weekend for conference play taking on the Drury Panthers.
