OZARK, Mo. – Two hard luck losses by the Truman Baseball team opened up their four-game series with Drury on Saturday. The Panthers won game one 4-3 and the nightcap 1-0.

Dave Gambino and Jason Priest each went 3-for-7 on the afternoon (.429) with Gambino hitting a triple and Priest adding a double. Evan Kayser went 2-for-5 but overall the Bulldogs hit .232 in the two games and struck out 11 times.

Game 1 Recap:
The Panthers broke through on starter Bryan Clark in the second inning as they pushed across three runs for the early lead.

The Bulldogs had just one hit until the fifth when Priest led off with a single. He would score on Gambino's triple and Kayser followed with an RBI single. Kayser later scored on a double play turned by the Panthers that tied the game.

Priest doubled in the sixth but Charlie Kreh was thrown out trying to score.

Caleb Essick led off the seventh with an infield single and would score was proved to be the game winner on a double to right by Ryan Colombo.

Gambino singled to start the ninth off closer Alex Austin and was pinch ran for by Adam Stolley. Kayser sacrificed Stolley to second for the first out and moved to third on a groundout by Wyatt Fones. Mason King ground to first to end the game.

Game 2 Recap:

Garrett Woods scattered six hits and fanned six Bulldogs to pick up the complete game shutout in the nightcap for the Panthers. Rian Markes allowed just the one run in the second inning to be tagged with the loss.

Three straight hits in the second inning with one-out off of Markes led to the only run of the game. KK Daniel singled and advanced on a hit from Ryan Kayhill. Dylan Bradshaw singled to center to put Drury up 1-0. Markes got out of the jam by finishing off the next two Drury hitters to leave runners stranded at second and third.

The Bulldogs loaded the bases with one out in the fifth but Wyatt Fones hit into an inning-ending double play. Fones singled in the seventh and was pinch ran for by Jon Lyons. Nick Agliolo drew a one-out walk and both runners moved up on a ground ball to first by Brendan Trimble.

Charlie Kreh struck out swinging with the two runners in scoring position to end the game.
