RECAP: Late Runs Give UIS 6-2 Win Over Truman Baseball

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars scored five times in the seventh inning and downed the Bulldog Baseball team 6-2 in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Truman will start a four-game series with the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday on the road.
 
The Bulldogs took the early lead in the third inning when Nick Agliolo led off with a double and scored on Chris Iliopoulos' RBI single to center.
 
The Prairie Stars countered in the fourth on a two-out single.
 
Truman got the lead back in the sixth when Dave Gambino belted his third home run of the season over the right field fence.
 
The seventh started when Cole Taylor led off with a double and scored two batters later on a single by Trey Hannam to tie the game. UIS then got a sac fly and a two-run homer by Drew Harper. John Sechen closed the seven-hit, five-run inning with an RBI double to right center.
 
The last six outs of the game recorded by UIS pitcher all came via the strikeout.
 
UIS outhit the Bulldogs 17-5 but Truman got nine free passes on walks issued. The Bulldogs stranded 10 base runners.
 
Kent Frantz went six innings and struck out five as Truman's starter. Austin Tinsley was tagged with the loss in relief.
