KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Sunday afternoon marked the first time a top-10 team has come to Bulldog Soccer Park since nearly two years ago when it was No. 6 Rockhurst on Oct. 2, 2015. Fast forward to 2017 and the Truman State University men's soccer team welcomed in the Hawks again, this time ranked No. 7, but fell to the visitors by a score of 2-0.
Truman (2-5, 1-3 GLVC) surrendered goals to Rockhurst (5-0-1, 4-0 GLVC) in the 27th and 74th minutes. Those two scores came from Adam Michel and Kaleb Jackson with assists credited to Ben McDonald and Jacob Richter, respectively.
For the Bulldogs, their eight shots were attempted by five different players including
Trevor Kaufmann (4),
Jake Koenig (1),
Derek Merry (1),
Michael Ruzicka (1), and
Matt Yankowitz (1). In goal,
Zac Suazo saved two looks and so did the Hawks' Logan Feldmann.
In the team numbers, Rockhurst had the advantage in shots, 11-8, shots on goal, 4-2, and corner kicks, 8-7.
Next up, Truman will be at Drury on Friday with kickoff from Springfield, Mo. set for 7:30 p.m.
