RECAP: Truman Comes From Behind Twice in Draw at Drury

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Entering Friday's match at Drury, the Truman State University men's soccer team was looking to end a pair of droughts. The Bulldogs hadn't scored a goal in five matches and had been on the losing end in four straight. The Purple and White put a halt to both of those streaks as they played to a 2-2 draw at Drury to open the weekend.

Truman is now 2-4-4 overall and 0-4-3 in the GLVC while Drury sits at 1-8-2 on the season including 1-5-1 in league play.

Facing a 1-0 deficit just under seven minutes in to the match, Thomas Bean found the back net for the first time in his career, and did so in the 40th minute thanks to Michael Ruzicka's first-ever assist.

Neither team would score for nearly 30 more minutes before Drury did so in the 70th minute to make it 2-1, but Truman didn't go down without a fight. Just over seven minutes later, Matt Yankowitz headed in his team-leading fifth goal off a Sean Appelbaum (pictured) assist, also his first of the fall.

That's where the score would stay as Jacob Gunn faced a total of five shots and saved three of them. In the team head-to-head, the Bulldogs had fewer total shots (20-15), but two more of which were on target (7-5). The home team also held a slim advantage in corner kicks (5-4).

Next up, Truman will begin a three-match homestand on Sunday with Missouri S&T in town and kickoff against the Miners is set for 2:30 p.m.
