RECAP: Washburn Strikes Back With Doubleheader Sweep

TOPEKA, Kan. – Washburn rallied for a walk-off win in the opener which also propelled them to a 10-0 victory in game two as the Ichabods swept the Bulldog Baseball team on day two of their three-day, four-game series. Truman will look to even up the opening weekend with a single-game on Sunday starting at noon.

The Bulldogs led 4-0 after two innings in game one. Truman scored all their runs in the second with Jack Goodwin knocking in two with an RBI single to left. Noah Schrader followed with an RBI single as did Josh Abegg to stake the Bulldogs to the lead.

The teams exchanged single runs before Washburn had their big inning in the bottom of the fourth. Josh Crosby hit the first of his two home runs on the day in a
four-run frame to tied things up at five.

The game stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh when a leadoff double would come around to score the winning run.

Goodwin was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored for Truman. Christian Watson was tagged with the loss in one and a third innings pitched.

A big third inning propelled the Ichabods to the win in the nightcap.

Washburn got solo home runs in the third then a pair of doubles added to the five-run third. They would tack on three more in the sixth and a pair of runs in the
seventh.

The Bulldogs had just three hits in the game with Evan Kayser belting a triple as the only extra base hit for the afternoon.

Starter Blake Bagenstos took the loss going the first three innings.

Truman had only 11 hits on the afternoon and did not draw a single bases on balls. Washburn had 10 extra base hits, three homers and seven doubles among their 22 on the day and six batters hit above .500.
