KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Truman returns to action this weekend in the Gateway City with a four-game series at Maryville University. The Bulldogs were swept for only the third time in a conference series since 2014 but second time by Drury University this past weekend.

Truman is 7-21 overall and 1-7 in the GLVC while the Saints enter at 5-3 in the conference and 13-17 overall.

The Bulldogs dropped a pair of one-run games to Drury this past weekend, with one coming in extra innings. The Panthers won the opener 9-2 then game two in extra innings 2-1. On day two, Drury won 3-2 and 19-10.

Maryville split with Quincy on the road. QU won both first games by one-run, 4-3 and 8-7 while the Saints took the second games 5-1 and 10-8.

Format:
Conference series are four games with the first game of the series being a nine-inning game. Games two and three are seven inning games and the fourth game is also a nine-inning affair. The first game of the series serves as a tiebreaker if teams are tied in the conference standings at the end of the season.

Truman In GLVC:
The Bulldogs have played 34 GLVC series since joining the league in 2014. They have swept all four games once (vs. Southern Indiana in 2015), won three games six times, split the series 17 times, won just once seven times and lost all four games three times (last vs. Drury 2018).

Truman's longest GLVC winning streak is five games in 2014 and longest GLVC losing streak has been matched by their current six-game streak. In 2017, Truman lost six straight conference games.

Maryville came back in game two after trailing 4-1 to win 6-5 but the Bulldogs returned the favor with a four-run walk-off win in game three after entering their final at bat 3-0 to win 4-3.

The Saints took the finale 5-0 to split the series.

In the four series they teams have played, Truman has won one and the other three have been split. In all-time games against Maryville, the Bulldogs are 14-7.

They were swept at home in a four-game series by Saginaw Valley State (5-4, 8-5, 5-2, 7-3) while Truman split a four-game set with the Cardinals. Missouri Southern won all four games against Maryville and both games against Truman and Indianapolis swept all five games played (two vs. Maryville and three vs. Truman) this season.

In five of Markes' starts, the Bulldogs have been involved in one-run games, including the last three starts, a 4-3 win over Saginaw Valley, a 4-3 loss to William Jewell and a 3-2 loss to Drury.

Lights Out:
Closer Peter Young has four saves this season and 25 for his Bulldog career. Young was a first-team all-GLVC pitcher in 2017 and is the only Bulldog pitcher with more than 10 career saves.

Matt Wade and Matt Tometz have 12 appearances apiece and serve as the set up men to Young. Wade has a 7.00 ERA with 18 strikeouts and five walks. Tometz is 0-2 with a 3.72 ERA. Opponents are hitting just .229 against Tometz and he has five of the Bulldogs 10 pickoffs this season.
