KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Truman State University men's soccer program hasn't been undefeated through six matches since the historical run of 2003. For the fourth week of the season, the Bulldogs (2-0-3, 0-0-2 GLVC) will travel to Rockhurst on Friday (7:30 p.m.) followed by Quincy on Sunday (2:30 p.m.).
Truman leads the all-time series with Rockhurst by six, 19-13-1, and when these two teams meet for the 34th time on Friday, the Hawks won't be ranked for the first time in four years. Rockhurst (1-2-2, 0-0-2 GLVC), which was ranked third in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll, has played to a draw in both of its league matches just like Truman.
Meanwhile, Quincy (2-3-1, 1-0-1 GLVC), has already played six matches and after a 1-3 start to the season, tied with Rockhurst, 2-2, and rolled past Missouri S&T, 5-1. Truman leads the all-time series with its rival by just one, 12-11-4. Streak wise, the Bulldogs have dropped six of their last seven against Rockhurst and six straight vs. Quincy.
Offensively, Truman is off to a hot start with 12 goals through its first five matches. That number is good for third in the GLVC behind No. 9 Indianapolis with 17 and Quincy with 13. Rockhurst has only accounted for five scores in its five matches. Individually for the Bulldogs,
Matt Yankowitz's four goals are tied for third in the league.
Also among the top offensive teams in the conference, Truman is second in points (35), second in assists (11) and tied for fourth in game-winning goals (2). Defensively, the Bulldogs .783 save percentage is good for third.
GLVCSN coverage and live stats will be available for both matches and links can be found on the men's soccer schedule page.
