RECAP: Men's Basketball Falls in Second Game of GLVC/GMAC Challenge

FINDLAY, Ohio—After defeating nationally ranked Findlay on Friday night to open the 2019-20 campaign, the Truman Men's Basketball team was knocked off by Cedarville Saturday afternoon 77-65. Brodric Thomas led the team with 16 points, while Turner Scott and Hunter Strait reached double figures with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

After an opening three pointer from Cedarville, Truman went on an 8-0 run to take an 8-3 lead. Mark Rogers scored four points in the run. The Bulldogs led most of the first half, not falling behind again until the 10:17 mark of the first half when the Yellow Jackets got ahead 17-16. Scott drained a three to give the Bulldogs back the lead, and from there the teams would stay neck and neck most of the half. With the game tied at 26 with 3:09 left in the half, Cedarville went on an 8-0 run, broken by a three from Strait with 1:26 left. Two free throws from Strait brought the Bulldogs within three points at 34-31 at the intermission.

Cedarville jumped out to a nine point lead with back to back threes to open the second half. Truman countered with a 7-0 run to pull back within two. Thomas led with a three pointer and then Strait got two consecutive buckets to make it 40-38. Later on another three from Thomas got TSU within one point at 51-50, but it would not be until a made three from Scott with 8:27 left that Truman would get even. With 5:17 left Thomas drained another three to tie the game at 64. Truman trailed by one at 66-65 after Luke Terhark made one of two free throws with 4:09 to go. But the Bulldogs weren't able to score the rest of the way as Cedarville closed on an 11-0 run to win.

Rogers led the team with eight rebounds and Scott made four of the team's nine threes.

The Bulldogs will be back in action next week as they head to Michigan to take on Grand Valley State next Thursday and Davenport next Saturday.
