Truman Women's Basketball Unveils Signing Class

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Coach Theo Dean has inked three players to the 2020-21 Truman Women's Basketball roster. Claire Rake (Greenwood, Indiana), Gabrielle Nielsen (Nixa, Mo.) and Carly Printy (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) each signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Bulldogs.

"I am very excited to add these three players to our women's basketball family," said Coach Dean. "We have signed three amazing kids that not only exemplify our work ethic and culture, but also accept both the challenge of receiving an education from the #1 public school in the Midwest and competing in, what we feel to be, the #1 Division II conference in the nation. I would like to thank former Head Coach Amy Eagan, former Graduate Assistant Remy Davenport, and most importantly, current Graduate Assistant Brie Daniels and Student Assistant Dawson Wood, who all played a huge role in securing a very strong recruiting class."

Claire Rake  (5-9/Center Grove HS/Greenwood, Indiana)
Rake enters her senior season at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana averaging nine points 1.7 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. She has been a part of back-to-back 20-win seasons for the Trojans and head coach Kevin Stuckmeyer. Rake has been named to the All-Academic Metropolitan Conference the past three years and is a member of the National Honor Society. Rake played club basketball for the Indiana Flight and intends on majoring in Business Administration at Truman. She is the daughter of Steve and Tricia Rake.

Coach Dean on Rake:
"Claire is my first recruit from Indiana, and I can't wait to get her here on campus! Claire is a knock-down shooter who has one of the prettiest shots we've seen. She has great ability to defend on the perimeter and a strong body that'll be useful for attacking the rim. We fell in love with Claire's ability to utilize her natural ability as a scorer in order to create opportunities for her teammates, and that unselfishness will fit in perfectly with our style of play. Claire will be a great addition to our Bulldog Family!"

Gabrielle Nielsen (5-8/Nixa HS/Nixa, Mo.)
Nielsen averaged 12 points per game while shooting over 43% from three for the Nixa Eagles last season as a junior. Nielsen shot 56% overall from the field and 82% from the line while earning second team all-conference and all-district accolades. In addition to her shoot, Nielsen pulled down 2.9 rebounds, dished out 3.9 assists and added 2.1 steals per game. She enters her senior year as a three-year varsity starter and has also been a member of the school's tennis and track programs. She played club basketball for Yanders Law-Morlan and anticipates majoring in Exercise Science at Truman. She is the daughter of John and Mindy Nielsen.

Coach Dean on Nielsen:
"We feel very fortunate to have snagged Gabby this summer. Her motor is unmatched, and she's one of the best perimeter defenders that we've seen. She's someone who will step on campus and make her teammates work to score with her tenacious on-ball pressure. With her athletic ability to defend and her self-motivation to add to her offense game, I'm excited to see how we can take her game to the next level. Gabby will be a great addition to our Bulldog Family!"

Carly Printy (5-8/Linn-Mar HS/Cedar Rapids, Iowa)
Printy is currently a three-year varsity starter for Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa where she averaged nine points, two assists and shot over 30% from three last season as the Lions finished 21-6. She has earned an all-conference and all-metro selection during her career and has been an academic distinction letter recipient and a member of the National Honor Society. Printy played club basketball for the All Iowa Attack and plans on majoring in Exercise Science. She comes for a pair of Truman Bulldog alumnae. Her father Boyd was a two-time all-conference honoree for the men's basketball team and is first on the all-time three-point shooting percentage list with 45% with 201 threes. Her mother Kathy was a member of the Bulldog women's swimming team.

Coach Dean on Printy:
"Printy will come to Truman from a family who bleeds purple! Both her mother and father were student-athletes at Truman. Carly is a kid who can just flat out play. Over the past year, she's shown great passion and work ethic to be the best player than she can be. She is very versatile guard who can attack the rim and shoot the three, and I look forward to expanding her game even further. Carly will be a great addition to our Bulldog Family!"
