RECAP: Bulldog Baseball Raises Money For "Vs. Cancer Foundation" In Sunday's Finale

Box Score

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Baseball team raised nearly $4,500 and had their head shaved in support of the "Vs. Cancer" Foundation in the fight for pediatric brain cancer following Sunday's 12-5 loss to McKendree University in the final game of their three-game series.

Players and coaches had been growing their hair out since the fall and their money raised to date for the "Vs Cancer" Foundation was $4,389. Following the game, staff from The Paragon Family Hair Salon helped the Bulldogs lose their hair in a postgame ceremony. To learn more about the "Vs. In the rubber game that was halted for nearly two hours in the bottom of the fifth due to rain and lightning, the Bulldogs grabbed a 3-1 lead.

Reid Wilson grounded out but drove in Ethan Kleinheider and Evan Kayser singled in Mason King for a 2-1 lead in the third.

In the fourth, back-to-back doubles by Holden Missey and Adam Stolley extended the Truman lead to 3-1.

Rian Markes wiggled out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the fifth allowing just one run. In the bottom of the inning, the Bulldogs had runners at the corners when weather halted the game.

When play resumed, Truman scored a pair of runs. Steven Bradbury had a sac fly and Reid Wilson scored on an error to make it 5-1.

The Bearcats got to the Truman bullpen in the sixth with two runs and took the lead on a solo home run by Corey Chambliss in the seventh. They broke open the contest with six runs in the eighth.

Missey went 3-for-4 to lead the offensive attack for the Bulldogs.

Truman returns to action on Tuesday with the completion of a three-game set with William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. The Cardinals took the first two in the series last Wednesday in Kirksville. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
