EAST PEORIA, Ill. - Junior hurler,
Alyssa Hajduk, turned in another marvelous performance and the Truman State University softball team churned out six runs on nine hits to eliminate Maryville on Saturday by a score of 6-1. Next up, the Bulldogs will face Drury in another elimination game with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
Hajduk (15-5) gave up no runs on three hits in five innings pitched with only one walk and nine strikeouts. In relief,
Lauren Dale handled the final two frames with one run allowed, also on three hits, to go with no free passes and a punchout.
As for the pitchers' offensive support, seven of the nine offensive starters recorded a hit including two each from
Emma Walbert (pictured) and
Alyssa Rivera. Truman put on the pressure right away with two runs in the first inning followed by four more in the third.
As for the Truman's next opponent, Drury, the Bulldogs and Panthers split their two regular-season meetings back on April 20.
