RECAP: Bulldogs Smother Saints, Move to 4-0 at Home

KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—For the second consecutive game, the Truman Men's Basketball team held their opponent to under 40% shooting from the field as the Bulldogs limited Maryville to 20-57 shooting (35.1%) from the field as Truman defeated Maryville 65-48.

Truman never trailed in the game. Early on TSU jumped out to a 9-2 lead behind five from Brodric Thomas, who led the team with 13 points, and four from Alex McQuinn. Truman held a 13-6 edge before Maryville scored seven straight points to tie the game at 13. Hunter Strait hit a three pointer to put the Bulldogs back on top and the team didn't look back. Truman led by as many as eight in the first half and took a six point edge into half at 29-23.

Maryville made a push at the start of the second half, drawing to within one at 30-29. From there, Truman reeled off eight straight points to go up 38-29 with 14:54 to go. During the second half the lead swelled to as many as 20 at 65-45, as the Bulldogs cruised to their fourth GLVC win and fourth home win this season.

For the second straight game, Dylan Peeters set a career high in points with 12—second on the team only to Thomas' 13. McQuinn was one point away from a double-double as he scored nine points and led the team with 11 rebounds.

Truman will be back in action next week as they host Illinois Springfield on Thursday at 7:30 and then Lewis at 3 on Saturday afternoon.
