KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—No matter who comes into Pershing Arena, they simply cannot stop the Bulldogs. The Truman Men's Basketball team rolled over conference rival Lewis Saturday 85-58 behind a season high 64.8% shooting from the field and limited the Flyers to 41.7% shooting for the game; and just 25.9% in the first half.
Early on the game was tied at 11, but a 7-0 run by Truman set the tone for the rest of the first half and solidified the Bulldogs lead the rest of the game. Mark Rogers got the bucket that started the run, followed by Luke TerHark and culminated with a three from Hunter Strait. With 8:37 to go the Bulldogs led 20-13 and a 9-0 run swelled the lead to 16, with Strait pouring on another five. Truman would take their largest lead of the half with 23 seconds to go following two free throws from Brodric Thomas to go up 37-16. A bucket for Lewis at the end of the half made it 37-18 at intermission.
The offensive onslaught from Truman continued in the second half as they hung 48 on the Flyers in the second half. The Bulldogs took their biggest lead of the game with 7:50 to go as Sam Nissen got a layup to go up 73-45. Over the last 11:41 of the game Truman would lead by more than 20 points. As a team the Bulldogs shot 71.4% from the field (20-28).
Cade McKnight scored nine of his 16 points in the second half, and with 16 points he tied Thomas for the team lead in the game. Thomas grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists, both of which were team highs.
The Bulldogs will head back on the road Monday as they travel to Quincy to take on the Hawks, with a 7:30 tip.
