KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman men's swimming team hosted Division I Saint Louis University Friday as the team celebrated Senior Day for Lliot Gieseke, Justin King, Brenden Harris, Austin Mayer and Riley Olson. Ultimately the visiting Billikens emerged victorious 136-68.
Connor Neils and John Breen both finished first in individual events, in the 1000 free and 200 free, respectively. Neils finished with a time of 10:02.81 and Breen at 1:44.61. In the 200 medley relay, the team of Mike and Mark Franz, Gieseke and Harris finished first with a time of 1:34.15.
After the dual, coach Jerod Simek said, "Our team really stepped up early on to take the lead early against a tough D1 opponent. I know they wanted to send their seniors out on a high note and the energy and intensity was certainly there. I am incredibly proud of our seniors with everything they have accomplished in their time here at Truman!"
The team will be back in action for their final action of the regular season tomorrow as they take on Western Illinois in Macomb, Ill. at 1 p.m.
