KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—After a month away from the friendly confines of Pershing Arena, the Truman Men's Basketball team didn't miss a beat as they defended their home court for the third time with a commanding victory over Missouri S&T 86-60. Strait led the Bulldogs with 18 points, including 5-9 from downtown.
The Miners made the first basket of the game—a three pointer from Dulan Scott. From there, the Bulldogs went on a 20-0 run and never looked back. Strait was red hot as he drained three of his five treys in that run. Truman shot a scorching 64.3% from the field in the first half, making 18-28 attempts from the field and going 3-7 from three point range. TSU led by as many as 19 and carried that margin into the locker room at 43-24. The Bulldogs dominated inside with 30 points in the paint.
In the second half, Truman maintained their double digit lead throughout as they cruised to victory. The Bulldogs shot 12-24 from the field and 5-10 from three point territory. Ben Cooper scored his first career points with the final bucket of the game: a three pointer that gave TSU their largest lead of the game at 26 points, and cemented the 86-60 victory.
Strait led the way with 18 points while Brodric Thomas and Cade McKnight each racked up 17. Dylan Peeters tallied new career highs with eight points and eight rebounds. He and Alex McQuinn tied for the team in lead boards (which also tied McQuinn's career best), while McQuinn put up ten points to get four Bulldogs into double figures.
Truman seeks their fourth win in four games at home this season Saturday as they take on Maryville at 3 p.m. After the game the men's and women's teams will be participating in Bulldog Buddies, signing autographs and giving posters to all children in attendance.
