LIBERTY, Mo.—The Truman Swimming teams opened their 2020-21 campaign at William Jewell Friday night.
The Women's team won 127-78. Last season the team finished fourth in the GLVC Championships and opened with another strong performance this season. The Bulldogs got the top two places in the 400 medley relay, with Natalie Nguyen-Annika Hofer-Sarah Nelson-Maddie Wilson taking first place with a time of 4:35.67. Lexi Poe won the 50 meter free with a time of 28.30, and the 100 meter free at 1:01.25. Maddie Nguyen and Ginny Schranck took the first two spots in the 400 meter IM and Christina Jurotich placed fourth. Lexi Krogman won the 100 meter fly at 1:07.25, Natalie Nguyen won the 200 meter back at 1:08.22, Hofer won the 100 breat at 1:14.39 and Madison Nguyen won the 400 meter free at 4:43.50.
The Men's team came up short 132-72. The team did win a few individual events as Noah May finished first in the 400 meter IM with a time of 5:01.37 and Mark Franz won the 100 meter breast stroke with a time of 1:05.05.
The teams will be back in action on the 23rd as they take on McKendree in Lebanon, Ill.
