KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman Men's and Women's Swimming teams will open their seasons Friday in Liberty, Mo. with a meet against William Jewell. The team will have a shortened season this year with meets at William Jewell, McKendree, a tri-meet at UMSL and then a meet against St. Ambrose in October. The team will then be back in action on January 15 against Missouri S&T and the 16th against Washington (Mo.) University before the GLVC Championships in February and NCAA Championships in March.
The Men's team returns seniors Austin Bell, Mark Franz, Jack McCormick, Jack McKenzie, Jake O'Bryan, Keegan Miller and Shane Williams. Franz set the school record in the 100 breast stroke last year with a time of 54.57. Junior returnees include Connor Neils, the new record holder in the 500 freestyle, Johnn Breen and Grant and Scott Nair. Sophomores Alex Burkhardt, Jaxson Mahlstadt, Noah May, Adam Vaske and Jacob Pocivasek are back and the team brought in newcomers Philip Tso, Jackson Michals, AJ Kohler and Dan Fink.
The women's team will be led by Senior Natalie Galluzzo, a national qualifier, as well as seniors Allison Garrett, Annika Hofer, Maddie Wilson and Ginny Schranck. These seniors will be joined by juniors Lexi Poe, Madison Nguyen, Maisy Kurucz, Lexi Krogman, Christina Jurotich, Rae Friesz, Maddie Duncan, Emma Brabham and Brooke Beahan as well as sophomores Kaitlyn McDaniel, Sarah Nelson, Holly Olson and Nicole Willis. Nguyen's sister Natalie joins the team as a freshman, along with Abby Bomball. The national qualifying 400 relay team returns Galluzzo, Olson and Brabham while Kaylee Sisson graduated.
