Box Score (HTML)

ST. LOUIS – #7 Truman State's 11-game winning streak was snapped on Thursday afternoon as the Maryville Saints dropped in 10 first half three-pointers and led wire-to-wire in a 90-83 victory over the Bulldogs. Truman will host Southern Indiana on Sunday at 3:15 p.m.

Owen Long and Ari Jackson combined on nine three-pointers for the Saints with Long hitting four and scoring 30 points and Jackson knocking down five and scoring 21.

The Bulldogs had to fight uphill all afternoon after an early 5-5 tie.

Maryville's lead swelled to a game-high 11 points at 38-27 following a 10-0 run late in the first half.

Truman appeared to cut the lead to five at half but Turner Scott's three-pointer was erased after video review so the Saints went to the lockerroom up 45-37.

The lead bounced between 6-10 points throughout most of the second half before Truman pushed late.

Cade McKnight got the Bulldogs to within three at 82-79 with 1:05 to play but a late shot clock off-balanced jumper from Davis Walker on the Saints next possession followed by a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line kept Truman at arms' length down the stretch.

The loss was the first since February 20, 2020 when Drury downed the 'Dogs in Springfield.

The five starters accounted for 79 of the 83 points with Elijah Hazekamp leading the team with 19 points. Scott knocked down five threes en route to 17 points. McKnight finished with 17 and added six assists. Dylan Peeters scored 14 with 11 rebounds and Hunter Strait added 12.

Truman shot 50.8% from the field with 10 threes and only eight turnovers while the Saints also shot 50.9% overall but 14 threes and only four turnovers.
