ALVA, Okla.—After a 12 run explosion on Friday, the Truman Baseball team couldn't get the offense going as they took on Washburn Saturday and fell to the Ichabods 13-3. Brendan Kelly went 3-4 with 2 RBIs while Rian Markes went four innings and took the loss.
After a scoreless first two innings, Washburn exploded for four runs in the top of the third. Following a scoreless bottom of the third Washburn tacked on five more to make it 9-0.
In the bottom of the fourth Adam Stolley got on base with a single to the right side, followed by a walk from Will Wirt. With two outs, Kelly stepped up to the plate and delivered a two RBI triple to get the Bulldogs on the board.
Washburn followed with two runs in the top of the fifth and then got one run in the top of the sixth and seventh. In the bottom of the seventh Holden Missey led off and was hit by a pitch. Steven Bradbury hit a double to left to move Missey to third. Kory Carter walked to load the bases and then Will Fromm hit a sac fly to center field to bring Missey home to make it 13-3.
The Bulldogs will close out their opening series tomorrow as they take on Rockhurst in a non-conference tilt. First pitch is at noon.
