KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman Swimming teams competed against Missouri-St. Louis in a two day Truman Invitational and both the men's and women's teams for Truman came in second. The women's team fought to the end but fell just short of the Tritons 1,496-1,479 and the men fell 1,632.5-1,152.5.
For the women, Meg Herevoh had another strong day with a first place finish in the 500 freestyle, beating her seed time by over four seconds. Emma Harris came in second in the event, beating her seed time by over twenty seconds. The Bulldogs also dominated the 50 free as Emma Brabham earned a B-cut as she won the event with a finals time of 23.49. Emily Traube and Sarah Nelson finished second and third in the event, with both beating their seed times. Holly Olson finished first in the 100 butterfly time trial, with a time of 56.18.
In the evening, Brabham earned her second B-cut of the day with a first place finish in the 100 free. Traube finished second and beat her seed time, Lexi Poe finished third and Kaitlyn McDaniel sixth. In the 200 backstroke, Natalie and Madison Nguyen both had strong finishes as Natalie finished second overall and in her final event as a Bulldog Madison finished fourth. Emma Harris and Kylie Strobl also finished in the top six along with the Nguyen sisters and all four beat their seed times. Sidney Durbin finished second in the 200 breaststroke with a finals time of 2:25.14, beating her seed time by over five seconds.
On the men's side, Connor Neils came in second in the 500 freestyle, and Jax Mahlstadt finished just under his seed time in the 200 IM as he finished fourth. Jacob Pocivasek and AJ Kohler finished fourth and fifth in the 50 freestyle, both beating their seed times.
In the evening, Kohler and Pocivasek finished second and third in the 100 free, both beating their seed times. Alex Burkhardt finished fifth in the 200 backstroke, narrowly missing his seed time. John Breen won the 200 breaststroke with a finals time of 2:03 flat, beating his seed time by nearly six seconds.
The Bulldogs of the meet, as named by their teammates and coaches, were Meg Herevoh and Miles McIntyre.
While the teams have wrapped up their action for the fall semester, they will be back in action on January 14 against Missouri S&T.
