LEBANON, Ill. - The McKendree Bearcats took both ends of a GLVC doubleheader over the Truman Softball team on Saturday by scores of 7-1 and 4-3 to extend their winning streak to five straight while the losses put an end to the Bulldogs three-game streak.

Truman (7-13/4-6 GLVC) will be at the University of Southern Indiana on Sunday.

McKendree (8-6/7-3 GLVC) raced out to a 4-0 lead on the Bulldogs with two in the first and two more in the fourth.

The Bearcats pitcher, Ellie Quaethem was cruising along with a no-no going until Ellie Weltha belted a solo home run in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-1.

Paige Hayden answered right back for McKendree with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to finish with four RBIs in game one.

The Bearcats jumped again on the Bulldogs with two runs in the first an another in the second to lead 3-0 after two.

Lauren Bowman led off with a single and was pinch ran for by Emily Eberwine. Emma Walbert hit a sac fly to left to score Eberwine to cut the lead to 3-1.

Bowman had an RBI single in the fourth to plate Weltha and in the fifth Brieanna Klein tied the game with a slapper to right scoring Cameryn Patterson.

The tie didn't last long as pitcher Miranda Gajewski helped her own cause, homering in the bottom of the fifth that stood up as the winning run.

Truman put two on in their last at bat but couldn't push across the tying run.
