ST. CHARLES, Mo.--The Truman Baseball team opened its season on Friday at #6 Lindenwood, falling 7-0 to the Lions. Starter Connor McKenna pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four runs; all earned and took the loss. Kyle Hentis threw seven innings for the Lions to pick up the win.
It was 0-0 through three innings, but in the bottom of the fourth Lindenwood broke through with a two RBI triple and an RBI single. From there they added one more on a solo homerun in the sixth, one more in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Five Bulldogs picked up hits in the game--Reid Wilson, Will Fromm, Evan Kayser, Kory Carter and Brennan Perkins--in his first career game he collected a single in the top of the sixth. Kayser reached scoring position with a triple in the fifth, and in the seventh Truman loaded the bases with two outs. Carter singled, then stole second, then Sam Smith got hit by a pitch. Jake Schneider struck out but a dropped strike three allowed him to reach first. But Truman was unable to bring a run in.
The Bulldogs will face the Lions tomorrow in a doubleheader, starting at 1:00 p.m.
