KIRKSVILLE, Mo.--The Truman Men's Soccer team closed its weekend slate on Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Soccer Park, and drew 2-2 again Missouri-St. Louis. Mac Knudsen picked up the first goal on a feed from Sam Newton, and Newton scored his second goal of the season off a free kick to give the Bulldogs their second goal of the game.
The first half was all Truman as Knudsen picked up his goal in the seventh minute, while Newton scored in the 18th. The Bulldogs totalled three shots on goal in the first session.
In the second half, the Tritons broke through on a penalty shot from Zach Druhe that got past Joey Keane and cut the Truman lead in half. Just about eight minutes later, Nick Schrieber evened the game up for UMSL off a scrum in front of the net the ball found its way to his foot and he put in to even the game up.
In the extra session, Truman held an edge with three shots and two on goal. Newton had a shot for his second goal off a set piece but could not convert. Knudsen tested UMSL keeper Anton Mukhin with just about two minutes left in the game; but the Triton keeper kept Truman from putting the game away.Â
Truman will be back in action this Friday on the road as they take on McKendree and then travel to Southern Indiana.
