RECAP: Bulldogs Swept by Hawks

QUINCY, Ill.--The Truman Baseball team concluded their series against Quincy on Saturday afternoon, falling 19-1. Michael Daggett made his fifth start of the season and took the loss to drop to 0-5 while Kobe Essien picked up the win for Quincy to go to 2-0.

The Bulldogs found themselves down early as the Hawks opened the game with three straight singles, and all five of their first five batters came in to score. The Hawks did all their damage in the first three innings of the game.

Truman broke through with their first hit of the ballgame in the fourth as Kevin Donohue singled through the right side. But he was retired on a groundball the next batter. In the top of the fifth Holden Missey led off with a single up the middle. He advanced to second on a groundout and with two outs Jake Schneider doubled to right field to bring Missey around.

Missey also pitched 1.1 innings at the end of the game, not allowing a run and giving up just one hit with two strikeouts. Tucker Olson also pitched two innings in relief and allowed no runs and no hits.

Truman will be back in action on April 9 at William Jewell as they take on the Cardinals in a four game set.
